WHAT OUR STAFF SAY ABOUT WORKING AT CAMPCO:

What are some things you like about working at CampCo’s Afterschool Program?

  • I’m studying to be an elementary ed teacher.  This has been great practice for me and has grown my confidence in managing a classroom.  Helping the kids with their homework has helped me to have a better understanding of how kids think and learn which will be a great benefit in my future career.
  • One of the things I really like about working at the afterschool program is the connection that I have made with the kids. At the summer camps, we have a different group every day (which is great, too).  But, with having the same kids all school-year, I’ve been able to really get to know so much about each of “my kids.”
  • This is my first year working with Group 1 (K/1st) after having the older kids, last year.  It was interesting to see the difference in the age groups and how much the younger students grew during the year.  Kindergarteners barely knew how to stand in line on the first day.  I put them in (Leader’s Name) Boot Camp and now they are so proud of themselves when they clean up after snack, neatly line up their backpacks and get in for the next activity.
  • The hours are great!  I have morning classes at Saddleback (Child Development), then come to work.  After work, I either have a night class or go down to the beach to work on homework or go for a run.
  • I love my group!  I’m going to miss my graduating 5th graders 🙁 .
  • As a former Las Palmas student, I have enjoyed working at the school where I grew up.  I also get to see my nieces and nephews, here, every day.
  • I live close to the school and get to walk to work every day.  I also get to work with some of the kids from my neighborhood.  I knew I would like working with children, but I didn’t realize how rewarding it would really be.
  • The kids!  It has been fun practicing and improving my Spanish when I help my students with their homework.
